Cyclones are high capacity conical machines that are remarkably simple in construction and operation but deceptively complex in performance. HICTECH cyclones are used to beneficiate coal and minerals on the basis of size and density in units known as classifying, hydro, desliming, water only and dense medium cyclones. They achieve very efficient separations through high g-forces by inducing circular/rotatory flows during passage of slurry and fluid flow.

The high g-forces create a dual outcome in that very efficient separations are achievable but also create significant opportunity for wear to reduce separation efficiencies. HICTECH products provide a dual effect by utilising world-class in-house approaches to both fundamental unit designs and wear-resistance technologies.

Dense Medium Cyclone (DMC)

HICTECH DMCs are designed and manufactured to order, ensuring every cyclone is 'fit for purpose' prior to manufacture. The process evaluates the operating conditions of the plant in which the cyclone will be installed. This evaluation provides the required data which is then analysed through a dynamic processing model. Modelling determines the critical internal dimensions that are required for that particular DMC design, ensuring optimum separation and efficiency is obtained once the DMC is in operation and furthermore, ensuring installation is trouble-free.
