Built on over 40 years of
wear prevention expertise.

HIC has provided industrial solutions since 1995. Operations initially commenced in its Newcastle (Hunter Valley) facility with our Mudgee operation established in 2010, servicing the central west region. The Mackay (QLD) based branch commenced operations in 2018. Our continued growth is a result of the company’s unique understanding of what’s required to deliver projects in heavily regulated industries.

In February 2017 the business released its first product offering under the registered brand name HICTECH®. The product was a premium grade 92% alumina tile which could be supplied in standard dimensions or in an engineered specific design. Since releasing HICTECH Product Solutions, the company has developed multiple additions to the brand, partnering with experts in the field to bring the highest quality product to market.

Company Profile

Over 40 years ago, Frank Bynon identified a growth market within the coal mining industry, with its beginnings focused on industrial tiling, servicing the NSW steel and coal markets. Initially operating under Bynon Industrial Ceramics, he then grew a substantial team under Hunter Industrial Ceramics, now HIC Services. During the last 20 years, the company has grown to become widely recognised as the market leader for operational excellence in maintaining fixed plant mining operations, now including our HICTECH brand of wear resistant technologies.

HIC embraces a culture which embodies 5 core values. We strive to adopt these values in all aspects of our work, including:

Accountability (Service, Responsibility & Delivering)
Integrity (Quality, Do as we say we will)
Openness (Communication & Understanding)
Respect (Trust, Teamwork & Diversity)
Sustainability (Health, Safety & Environment)

HIC Services is committed to the sponsorship of organisations with whom they can build a long and mutually productive relationship. We are especially proud of our partnerships with a number of local charitable organisations including advocates for domestic violence and mental health, as well as the sports and arts communities. Our support for our local community is incredibly important to us.

Our internal training and mentoring program provides a career pathway for those who are new to the industry as well as those who are trade qualified. HIC provide a fantastic chance for you to join an organisation continuing to expand their operations within NSW, including having more recently established its first branch in Mackay (QLD). In 2015, HIC Services partnered with TAFE NSW to provide a career path for all employees (Certificate III Surface Preparation and Coating Application) to provide recognition to our employees of the highly valuable skills they have acquired in their time with HIC. Our Traineeship Program has been very successful, with one of our employees in 2020 being awarded Trainee of the Year across the region.

Our expertise is geared towards capital-intensive plant, equipment and infrastructure.

HICTECH is HIC Services’ brand of advanced wear prevention technology and products. The HICTECH range includes specialist equipment like Dense Medium Cyclones (DMCs), Hydrocyclones, Wear Plates, Alumina Ceramic Tiles and Wear Resistant Pipes, all manufactured to the highest international standards to maximise asset performance and longevity.

HIC Services is strategically located across New South Wales and Queensland. Our main workshop and head office is in Carrington NSW, and we also operate key facilities in Mudgee NSW and Mackay Qld.

We operate under stringent quality management systems, including ISO 9001 accreditation for our HICTECH premium alumina products. All manufacturing processes and service solutions are designed and delivered to achieve performance outputs in line with Australian Standards (e.g., AS2027 for wear-resistant cast iron) and technical client specifications.

Our trade-qualified mobile crews specialise in remote location maintenance and repairs. Key on-site capabilities include industrial surface preparation and protective coatings (complying with SSPC/NACE standards), installation of wear and ceramic composite systems, non-destructive Pipe Scan inspections, and specialised off-site refurbishment services.

Asset Management, in the context of HIC Services, is the coordinated activity of an organisation to realise value from assets. It is critical for industrial sites as it focuses on preventative maintenance, wear reduction, and strategic refurbishments to minimise downtime, lower operational costs, and extend the service life of high-value plant and equipment.

Our industrial tiling and fabrication solutions focus on extreme wear and temperature applications. This includes bespoke steel fabrication, welding, specialised pipework, and the application of high-density ceramic or basalt tiling for lining chutes, hoppers and launders where erosion is a significant issue.

Yes. Recognising the high cost of unplanned downtime in mining and power generation, HIC Services maintains highly mobilised and skilled crews. We offer rapid-response services for critical on-site repairs, emergency wear system installations, and asset failure mitigation across our service regions.

HICTECH products are engineered using advanced materials and manufacturing processes specifically for severe abrasion and impact. Compared to standard materials, our proprietary range (e.g. specialised ceramic composites and wear plates) offers superior hardness, extended wear life and reduced requirement for maintenance cycles, leading to better long-term performance.
